Start each month with the Queen Diva Robbie Motter,who is known as the Master Connector and Networking Queen.She and her dynamic guests will share many tips and resources for marketing, PR, Speaking, SHOWING UP, and great opportunities to help you soar your business to greatness.

It's all about showing up," is the first thing Robbie Motter tells anyone who asks her how to succeed. The mantra suits Motter, who shows up in many places in many capacities—serving as NAFE's Western regional coordinator, the founder of Contacts Unlimited, a regular co-host of television and radio shows, a marketing columnist, and a mother of three, among her other roles.

Her whirlwind lifestyle began in the '60s, when company transfers for her then-husband—from Honolulu, Hawaii, to Omaha, Nebraska, and then on to Washington, D.C.—necessitated a career change. Working alternately in personnel management and information technology, Motter held a series of corporate and government positions.

After divorce left her raising three children with no support, Motter decided to launch her own venture helping entrepreneurs get government contracts. Balancing the needs of her business and her children was her biggest challenge. "Staying home was not an option," says Motter, who filled the gaps by bringing in live-in help and tailoring her work schedule around her youngest daughter's day.

Motter's business grew as she gained a reputation helping small and mid-size companies grow, and soon she was consulting in additional areas, including public relations and marketing. Today, she also works with nonprofit organizations, and is a certified public speaker and business coach.

Despite traveling extensively for business, Motter always finds time to participate in events held by the 24 regional NAFE networks she oversees, as well as the activities of NAFE's nonprofit affiliate, the For You Network, which she helped found. "I still work, but my real passion is motivating women and introducing people who can help one another," she explains. "I love meeting people, helping them to understand the power they have within, and connecting them with others."

Motter wears many hats literally as well as figuratively as the Queen Diva. As the Queen Diva Robbie Motter dons feather boas and tiaras or flamboyant hats to attend events, along the way recruiting other professional women who need to add a little diva flair to their lives. "We're all Type A personalities who tend to let work take priority over fun," she explains. "Being divas was a way to give ourselves permission to have fun and be outrageous."

Making a splash wherever they went, the diva queens discovered the power of feathers and glitzy headgear. They soon had a web site and a mission: "To help, support, listen, and renew each other in their personal and professional lives."

"You'd be surprised by what putting on a boa and a crown can do. I've seen women transformed by it. One shy woman started out with a baby boa, but when I saw her more recently wearing a huge queen's crown she had become much more outgoing."

"Once you decide you are a diva, you are free to do whatever you want," concludes Motter, for whom the diva concept is yet another facet of her mantra: Just show up—in style.
